About the event

Women in the Bible are rarely given more than a few verses of text, and we don't often 'hear' them speak. But when they do arrive they stride boldly onto the stage with much for us to learn. At Women's Voices Edinburgh 2022 we will meet some of the brave and bold women from Old and New Testaments: Eve, Ruth, Huldah, Mary and the women who discovered the empty tomb.

We have four wonderful speakers joining us for the day:

Liz Shercliff, author of three books on preaching, Preaching Women: Gender, Power & the Pulpit; Out of the Shadows: Preaching the Woman of the Bible; and The Present Preacher: Discerning God in the Now. She is a researcher in feminist practical theology and leads Women’s Voices. She is Director of Studies in Chester Diocese and Canon of the cathedral.

Jenny Bridgman, writer, contributor to The Present Preacher; Director of Studies in Chester.

Grace Thomas, author of Eve as Everywoman: Climate Grief as Global Solidarity; Diocese of Manchester Climate Officer and parish priest; lecturer in pastoral theology at Luther King Centre

Kate Bruce is an Anglican priest, working as an RAF Chaplain, with a PHD in homiletics. She is an published author with a love of written language and the spoken word, especially preaching.

This will be an in person event at St Margaret's Church, Easter Road, Edinburgh.

Refreshments will be included however please make your own arrangements for lunch.
